Canterbury Hope Foundation is experienced in helping children with a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties which may be affecting their development, personal relationships and school life. We support your child through any difficulties they may be experiencing, whether big or small, including ADHD, autism, anxiety, bullying, depression, eating disorders and gender identity to name just a few.
We work with children from all ages, tailoring the approach to your child’s specific needs. As well as talking and listening, this may include games and activities and sand box therapy – a combination of play therapy and art therapy.
We will initially meet with you and your child to understand more the issues you are experiencing. Individual sessions will then be designed to meet your child’s specific needs. Parent support sessions are also offered alongside your child’s therapy.
Sandbox therapy, also known as sandplay therapy, is a form of expressive therapy often used with children. It involves the use of a sandbox filled with sand, along with miniature toys and figures, through which children can create scenes and stories. This process allows them to express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a non-verbal and symbolic way, providing a safe space for exploration and healing under the guidance of a trained therapist.
Chris is able to provide an analysis of the activities of the child which identifies and eases the trauma, reducing suffering for the child.Sandbox therapy can be effective in addressing various issues such as trauma, anxiety, behavioral problems, and emotional regulation difficulties in children. It can be very effective in cases of autism.
