About Chris Kidd & Our Philosophy
Chris Kidd (M.A; PsychPip) is the Director and lead psychotherapist at The Canterbury Hope Foundation Ltd, where he provides confidential, thoughtful, and effective therapy for individuals, couples, and families. With over 10 years experience in counselling and psychotherapy and previously 19 years for both the Met and Kent Police forces Chris has extensive real-life knowledge and experience across multiple areas of life and work.
A Dual Perspective: Therapeutic & Strategic
Chris has a Master’s degree in Psychoanalytic Studies from Birkbeck, University of London, a First Class Honours degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies from University of Kent, and a Diploma in Therapeutic Integrative Counselling.
Alongside his clinical work, Chris operates at a senior advisory level, working as a Special Advisor to a director at the Gates Foundation in Seattle, and provides coaching and mentoring consultancy privately. These dual perspective informs a practice that is both psychologically deep, ethical and grounded in real-world complexity.
The Approach
His approach is rooted in psychoanalytic, philosophical, and relational thinking, supporting clients to navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, and questions of identity. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, Chris works with the underlying patterns that shape experience, helping clients to understand themselves more clearly, communicate more effectively, and move towards meaningful change. Chris specialises in working with Autism and ADHD alongside those suffering with personality disorders and those challenged with or victimised by narcissism.
Chris offers a contained, confidential space for careful reflection, growth, and repair, where clarity can emerge, stability can be restored, and lasting shifts can take place.
